Why we do not publish a ranking
“Top 10 IPTV players” pages all look alike: a ranking, some stars and one player placed first. Such lists rarely rest on real tests, and a player changes from one update to the next. We preferred a more useful article: the criteria that let you choose for yourself, device by device, and make that choice again in a year.

An essential reminder: a player provides no channels. It plays a subscription or playlist you obtain elsewhere. Comparing players therefore means comparing interfaces and playback engines, not catalogues.
Criteria that apply to every device
- Format compatibility. The player must accept your subscription as your provider gives it: Xtream Codes or M3U playlist. A player limited to one format may force you to change provider.
- Real availability. Install it from the device’s official store. A player that exists only as a file to install by hand is riskier and harder to update.
- The programme guide. A working EPG showing “now” and “next” changes daily use. See the article on EPG to understand where it comes from.
- Easy input. On a TV, typing a server address with a remote is the main reason people give up. Look for pairing by code or QR code.
- Playback engine and codecs. Good hardware decoding prevents stutter. Details in our article on H.264, HEVC and AV1 codecs.
- Multiple accounts and synchronisation if you use several screens.
- Cost and ads, to be read on the official store page at download time.
- Privacy: the player stores your credentials, so read the publisher’s policy.
IPTV player for a Windows PC
On a computer, power is not the problem: what matters is hardware decoding and a good graphics driver. Look for a player that handles playlists and the guide, rather than a simple general-purpose video player. Dedicated Windows software also gives a resizable window, keyboard shortcuts and second-screen playback.
- Check: 64-bit version for Windows 10 and 11, installer downloaded from the publisher’s website, hardware acceleration support.
- If you want to watch on the TV: an HDMI cable is enough, see watching TV on a Windows PC.
- Ours: the AICKO IPTV software for Windows is free and relies on the libmpv engine.
IPTV player for Android TV and Google TV
On an Android TV or Google TV set or box, the official Play Store is a decisive advantage: the app installs and updates like on a phone. The interface must be designed for the remote, with directional navigation and large elements readable from three metres.
- Check: presence in the box’s Play Store, remote navigation, pairing by code.
- To choose the box: our guide to choosing an Android TV box and the AICKO IPTV on Android TV page.
- If installation is stuck: installing an app on Android TV.
IPTV player for Fire TV Stick
Fire TV devices run Fire OS, a variant of Android that uses Amazon’s Appstore rather than the Play Store. The weak point is often storage and memory: an app that is too heavy makes the device slow.
- Check: availability in the Appstore, lightness, smooth channel scrolling.
- Good habit: free up space before installing. See our article on Fire TV Stick apps.
- Network: prefer 5 GHz Wi-Fi or an Ethernet adapter, see Wi-Fi, Ethernet and powerline.
IPTV player for a Samsung TV
Samsung TVs run Tizen, not Android: an Android app cannot be installed on them. The player must therefore exist in the TV’s Smart Hub, in a version compatible with the age of the model.
- Check: your TV’s generation (AICKO IPTV is available on 2018 and later models, Tizen 4.0 or later) and the app’s presence in the Smart Hub.
- Going further: Samsung Tizen apps and the AICKO IPTV on Samsung page.
- Fallback: an older TV can be completed with an external stick or box.
IPTV player for iPhone and iPad
On iPhone and iPad everything goes through the App Store, which simplifies security. The points to look at are the minimum iOS version, background audio playback, casting to a TV and synchronisation with other devices.
- Check: compatibility with your iOS version (AICKO IPTV needs iOS 14 or later), Xtream Codes and M3U support, portrait and landscape mode.
- Ours: the AICKO IPTV on iPhone and iPad page.
What if the chosen player does not suit you?
Try a second player with the same subscription. If the problem persists identically, the cause is elsewhere: service, network or credentials. If the other player works better, you have your answer. That is also why being free matters: testing costs nothing. All AICKO IPTV install links are gathered on the Download page, and the getting-started guide shows the first connection.
Legal reminder
A player provides no content: it makes the subscription it reads neither legal nor illegal. Only services authorised by the rights holders are lawful. Before subscribing, read our article Legal or illegal IPTV, and keep your credentials to yourself (how to protect them).
In summary
- The best player is the one that exists in your device’s official store and reads your subscription format.
- PC: hardware decoding and current drivers. Android TV: Play Store and remote. Fire TV: lightness. Samsung: Tizen, recent models. iPhone: iOS version.
- Test two players with the same subscription to know where a problem comes from.
- A player provides no content; only services authorised by the rights holders are legal.
